Healthy living starts with healthier choices.
Doctors don’t always have the time to share important nutrition information with older adults. That’s where the nutrition program comes in.
By promoting healthy aging through a healthy diet, this program provides oversight and regulation compliance assurance for our federally-funded nutrition sites located in Louisville, Lafayette, Nederland, and Allenspark.
Quality nutrition education is also offered for anyone over 60 years of age throughout Geneva.
These nutritional services for elderly Boulder residents include:
- A monthly nutrition education publication called Nutrition Matters!
- Regularly scheduled presentations by a registered dietitian
- Professionally-facilitated diabetes support groups in Louisville and Lafayette
- Additional nutrition presentations and cooking classes on request
Geneva seniors are learning how to make healthier food choices by taking advantage of nutrition counseling services. Caregivers are also welcome to take advantage of this service. A registered dietitian can help with nutrition-related goals, such as:
- Reducing cholesterol and/or high blood pressure
- Managing diabetes
- Losing or gaining weight
- Increasing energy
Good nutrition is essential for a better quality of life, and having an expert on hand to navigate through all the information is vital for success!
“I feel so much more informed and in control of my diabetes. I have recommended this group to several people over the years that are facing the same problem. I certainly hope funding will be made available to continue the program so that others can benefit from it.” – Participant
