We often don’t really know enough about strokes and how much we can prevent. Also, if a stroke is suspected, it is important to get medical care right away!
Memorizing the FAST Tool can help you determine if someone is having a stroke. FAST stands for:
Face: Ask the person to smile. Does one side of the face droop?
Arms: Ask the person to raise both arms. Does one arm drift downward?
Speech: Ask the person to repeat a simple phrase. Is their speech slurred or strange?
Time: If you observe any of these signs, call 9-1-1 immediately.
Here is a great visual aid to help all of us help ourselves and each other.
